More of government picking and choosing what bad habits the serfs are allowed to have. The U.S. learned a valuable lesson from Prohibition which simply organized crime which prior to that was disorganized. 😆 A study in the UK claimed that over 50% of smokers did not find the habit particularly hard to give up. Another percentage found it moderately difficult. The rest, something over 10% found it difficult or impossible. Work with those statistics if they are accurate. Why is quitting smoking unendurable agony for some but not for others? It is said there is an "opioid epidemic" of addiction in the U.S. Add to that alcohol and tobacco dependence. What if science cured all addictions? It has been too easy to stigmatize addiction, thus retarding research. What if there was a large, well funded hospital facility for addiction such as there are for some other medical conditions? What if patients could receive treatment and interact with doctors and researchers daily? What could be learned? My friends who smoke do not want to quit. They ridicule public policy, avoid no-smoking venues and lie to doctors. They want the government to go away! Personally, the bulk of my estate is willed to research to find the cure(s) for addictions and brain diseases.

Quit smoking after 34 years with vaping, 9 years ago. I was able to give up cigarettes in 3 days. Haven’t smoked one since.

You concern with tobacco deaths really. Is that the real concern?

That have an issue because nicotine is like herbal medicine. Ist got nothing the do with smoking. Cigarettes are loaded with chemicals that make tobacco harmfull. So you have the got the end of the stick. Surely homelessness unemployment and starvation are more of a concern. Waisting time and money on senseless issues

The presentations at the GFN were excellent, and I suggest watching them all. If your time is limited, you should at least watch the session on bad science organized by Clive Bates (start at 1:54:43). In the beginning, Clive initiated what I would call a "Vaping Bullshit Bingo", in which panelists and the audience were requested to briefly come up with silly anti-vaping arguments that are permanently raised in scientific journals and the media. I highly recommend this fascinating and entertaining discussion.

2 people have died from vaping in Australia, ever.. one of them, an infant who drank fluid. 20,000 per year die from cigarettes. They saw the smoking rate plummet, panicked, and rushed this legislation. They don't care if you live or die, they just want to you to buy only their products.

Cigarettes are dangerous..but its not the nicotine..its all the rest of the chemicals ..my friend lights a cigarette and it starts to hiss and small explosive chemicals burning..l am using patches ..just started

I find it absurd that, in order to describe the effect that nicotine has, the group included smokers. Nicotine, per se, is not addictive - it is the "other things" that cigarette companies deliberately add to cigarettes that makes a smoker addicted to their fags.

Apparently Vaping causes "Bubble gum lung" what ever that is.

Kids want to rebel and do things. Vaping is much safer than cigarettes. I smoked. And gave up for vaping. I run, droped 2 min from 5 k run when i gave up smoking

Never smoked before -Just started vaping to control my weight gain after brain surgery... It did help, and I had no trouble putting it down when I felt strong enough to walk

I moved over from cigarettes to vaping about 2 years ago , it’s so much less harmful, I felt absolutely terrible smoking cigarettes. The way I see it if you don’t smoke or vape don’t start either . But if you smoke and can’t stop then vaping instead will be hugely beneficial to you .
